The front gates are closed, but you can dodge the two Deuces on patrol and pick the lock in the cavern to the right. You're probably better off evading them whenever possible and running straight to the fortress.
The road between the teleport and the castle itself is a who's-who of everything in the game you genuinely don't like fighting: giant scorpions, Myrmidons, Tailers, another Reaper recolor called Deuces, Ghouls, and more. Your best bet is probably just running away. You immediately appear between two Myrmidons, which are the off-color version of the Reaper from Chapter I. While Ghortharius's personal teleport platform has been disabled, you can now 'port straight to a destination outside Vahkmaar. Go up to the Prophet's chamber and discuss matters with Ghortharius and Rogdor.
